Why would I hire an editor when I can just do it myself?
Anyone can edit. I, however, take the editing off your to-do list and save you hours of time. I’ve heard podcasters say they’ve spent between 3 and 11 hours editing just one 60 minute interview! Ain’t nobody got time for that!
There are 2 questions you need to ask yourself:
What other income-generating activities could I be doing instead of writing blogs and editing my own show?
What would I like to do with my time?
(I bet the answers are not editing or writing!)
What's your leadtime/turnaround time?
I require 3 days advance notice of any deadlines or due dates. Larger projects like launches and websites require an agreed-upon, custom timeline. As a practice, I aim to have podcast episodes edited and uploaded within 3-5 business days (excluding weekends) from receipt.
How do we share files securely?
Upon receipt of a signed contract, I’ll create a shared Dropbox folder where you and I can both upload files back and forth. Your originals are always yours and any completed files I share with you will remain accessible to you as long as you retain your dropbox account.
How and when do I pay for your services?
New clients and large projects like launches, rebrands, and webcopy makeovers require a $500 deposit. All other services are billed every 2 weeks on Friday via online invoice sent to your email.
Completed work is billed whether or not it has gone live yet. Payments are due upon receipt and additional charges are assessed after an invoice is 2 weeks past due. Invoices are easily paid at the click of a button by debit/credit cards or EFT.
How will you know what I want written or how I want my file edited?
During our Zoom meetings I listen intently to your brand vision, the way you speak, and I make note of your hopes and expectations. I get to know you and your “voice” through your existing site copy, social media, and any other content you’ve created.
We’ll talk through different tones, styles, angles, and your desired customer/listener experience and I’ll take it from there!
